If you’re looking for a refined, luxurious SUV, you’re probably considering the 2018 GMC Terrain and Acadia. You might also be wondering what the differences are between the two. Here at Ron Smith Buck GMC, we’ve assembled a short comparison guide to help you make the purchase that’s best for your needs.
Segment and Space
The GMC Terrain is a compact SUV, whereas the Acadia is a mid-size SUV. As a result, the Acadia is more spacious than the Terrain and accommodates up to seven passengers and boasts 79 cubic feet of cargo space behind the front seats. The Terrain, on the other hand, comfortably seats up to five and offers 63.3 cubic feet of space behind the front row. With all seats in place, the Terrain actually edges out the Acadia and offers 29.6 cubic feet of cargo space compared to the Acadia’s 12.8 cubic feet.
The Acadia offers slightly more power than the Terrain. It comes equipped with a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. The Terrain still offers a respectable amount of power, coming equipped with a standard 1.5-liter turbo engine that pumps out 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. Both vehicles have engine upgrade options.
Both the Acadia and Terrain offer about the same interior tech options, including comparable infotainment and smartphone integration options.
The 2019 GMC Acadia already promises to hold its own in the competitive midsize SUV segment, but every model can use an edge, right? Enter the GMC Acadia Black Edition. This limited-run model boasts all the features drivers love about the standard model and much more, providing a jolt of bold, confident style. We’re looking forward to welcoming the Black Edition here at Ron Smith Buick GMC.
All Acadia Black Edition models will feature black trim and a darker grille insert. Black mirror caps, trim badging, and surround make this quite the standout model. Black roof rails and 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with black accents complete the Acadia’s top-to-bottom blackout.
When purchasing a Black Edition model, drivers will also have a choice of five exclusive exterior finishes: Ebony Twilight Metallic, Summit White, White Frost Tricot, Dark Sky Metallic, and Smokey Quartz Metallic.
The Black Edition will be available only on the Acadia’s SLT-1 and SLT-2 trims. The SLT-1 features a four-cylinder engine that puts out 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. The SLT-2 features a bigger 3.6-liter V6 engine that pounds the pavement with 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque.
The 2019 GMC Acadia Black Edition is scheduled to bring its swagger to dealerships this summer. Until then, view our available new GMC Acadia selection!
