Brand name recognition is a big deal. Word of mouth and having a recognizable logo are major marketing tactics in the business world. And it seems that, in time for the 2019 Buick lineup, Buick has achieved the ultimate goal of gaining customers who can recognize the brand’s vehicles from logo alone. Buick recently announced plans to drop the brand’s name from the 2019 Buick lineup, relying entirely on the tri-shield logo for brand recognition.
This marketing decision comes in the wake of a survey conducted by Buick at the beginning of 2017, the results of which showed that 73 percent of drivers could recognize Buick vehicles from the logo alone. It’s also another strategic move by the brand to switch up expectations and preconceptions of Buick. In the past, the Buick name was associated with an older target demographic, while the automaker is currently aiming to appeal to a broader (and younger) audience. Dropping the Buick name from the back of its vehicles will also leave room for the new Avenir sub-brand badging.
The new Buick lineup, soon to be available at Ron Smith Buick GMC, will continue to deliver the brand’s “attainable luxury” while also building and expanding the new Avenir sub-brand. By leaving off the Buick name, the brand is taking another step towards revamping its image.
While the 2017 model comes stocked with just one engine, a gas-powered V6 that delivers optimal efficiency and performance, the 2018 Buick Lacrosse Hybrid will change that as the entry-level luxury brand aims to become more than your average automaker. The 2018 Buick LaCrosse Hybrid takes over as the base model for the upcoming model year.
The 2018 LaCrosse Hybrid features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor and battery. That combination delivers respectable performance and fuel economy. The new LaCrosse Hybrid also marks the return of eAssist technology.
The new hybrid powertrain replaces the existing V-6 engine, resulting in better fuel economy and performance. General Motors (GM) estimates that the hybrid powertrain will deliver an impressive 194 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque. While that isn’t as much power as the V-6 engine’s 310 horsepower, the hybrid powertrain will earn a GM-estimated 25/35 MPG City/Highway*.
Full-size sedans like the LaCrosse tend to struggle when it comes to fuel economy, making the 2018 LaCrosse Hybrid stand out from the crowd. But if you prefer the previous engine system, don’t fret. The V-6 engine and all-wheel drive system are still available options on the 2018 model.
We here at Ron Smith Buick GMC can’t wait for the new 2018 LaCrosse Hybrid to finally hit roadways!

The ads during the big game are the primary reason many viewers tune in every year. The creative, and usually expensive, ads offer a look into movies, messages, and products that aren’t usually put on such a display at any other point throughout the year. Buick’s ad put the Cascada convertible and Encore crossover on display.
Buick’s new ad starred football player Cam Newton and super model Miranda Kerr both on the sidelines and on the field of a pee wee football game. Rumors had suggested the two stars would take the spotlight alongside two Buick vehicles prior to the ad’s release on YouTube, before to the game.
The ad kicks off with a game of Pee Wee football only for two dads to catch sight of a gorgeous red Buick Cascada. After a bit of banter, one of the players becomes Cam Newton, who throws an incredible touchdown pass. Then, the stylish Encore pulls up, causing the coach to say, “If that’s a Buick, then I’m a supermodel.” Sure, enough, Miranda Kerr took his place.
While the Atlanta Falcons took an early lead in the final game of the season, the New England Patriots swung a 21-point deficit to win 34 to 28. Tom Brady took home his fifth championship win and what a win it was!
We here at Ron Smith Buick GMC offer our congratulations to the Patriots as well as the Buick Cascada and Encore for taking the spotlight during one of the most-watched programs of the year.
