Celebrate Buick’s Lighting System During Hanukkah

2018 Buick Regal TourXHanukkah has come and gone for another year, and people around the world celebrated accordingly. Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, can be an illuminating reminder to celebrate the various lighting technologies in the automotive industry. Buick’s lighting system is extensive and comes with plenty of options that can make your life easier throughout the year.

Adaptive Forward Lighting

Safety technology is always advancing, and Buick has been equipping most of its vehicles accordingly. Adaptive Forward Lighting senses the direction the car is going, then moves the headlights in that direction. This system enables drivers to see around curves at night.

Interior Lighting

Buick vehicles are luxurious when it comes to materials and controls, but many people forget about the interior lighting. Most Buick models feature warm ambient lighting to set a relaxing mood. Footwell lighting helps passengers find exactly what they need, even if it’s on the floor in the dark.

HID Headlamps

High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps detect the conditions of traffic and turn on or off as necessary. The system allows drivers to flash their headlights prior to passing a vehicle to alert drivers ahead. Models equipped with HID headlamps help improve visibility at night or in dark areas, such as a garage.

We here at Ron Smith Buick GMC are happy to see Buick models offer lighting options to meet the needs of all drivers and driving conditions.

Summer Grilling Tips

Summer Grilling Tips

If you’re looking to host your own cookout this summer, check out these grilling tips first. You’ll be surprised at how a little preparation and awareness can take your cookout from lukewarm to sizzling.

Get the Tools

Before the grill heats up, you need to make sure you have the right tools for the task. Tongs, a long metal spatula, and a grill brush will allow you to make expert moves and help you to prevent food from falling apart or cooking unevenly.

Be Prepared

Grilling over hot charcoals is totally different than cooking in the kitchen. It’s important to have everything prepared ahead of time. Get the veggies chopped, the burgers formed, and the meats marinated and lay it all out neatly in a work station so that you can focus on the grilling and not the preparation.

Keep the Lid Closed

Every time you peek at your food while it’s cooking, you allow some of the heat to escape. That can cause your food to become drier and to lose some of its flavor. Avoid the temptation and trust your grill to do the work.

Get the Timing Down

You should pull your meats off of the grill just before they’re done cooking, since they’ll continue to cook a little while longer even off of the heat. Use a meat thermometer to determine how far along your food is. When you pull it off, let it sit and marinate in its own flavor. And remember, if you want an expert opinion on your finished product, you can always bring a taste over to Ron Smith Buick GMC!

2018 Buick LaCrosse Hybrid Overview

2018 Buick LaCrosse Hybrid

While the 2017 model comes stocked with just one engine, a gas-powered V6 that delivers optimal efficiency and performance, the 2018 Buick Lacrosse Hybrid will change that as the entry-level luxury brand aims to become more than your average automaker. The 2018 Buick LaCrosse Hybrid takes over as the base model for the upcoming model year.

The 2018 LaCrosse Hybrid features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor and battery. That combination delivers respectable performance and fuel economy. The new LaCrosse Hybrid also marks the return of eAssist technology.

The new hybrid powertrain replaces the existing V-6 engine, resulting in better fuel economy and performance. General Motors (GM) estimates that the hybrid powertrain will deliver an impressive 194 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque. While that isn’t as much power as the V-6 engine’s 310 horsepower, the hybrid powertrain will earn a GM-estimated 25/35 MPG City/Highway*.

Full-size sedans like the LaCrosse tend to struggle when it comes to fuel economy, making the 2018 LaCrosse Hybrid stand out from the crowd. But if you prefer the previous engine system, don’t fret. The V-6 engine and all-wheel drive system are still available options on the 2018 model.

We here at Ron Smith Buick GMC can’t wait for the new 2018 LaCrosse Hybrid to finally hit roadways!
