Nobody wants to pay more for gas than they have to. That is why many people put fuel efficiency near the top of their list when shopping for a new car. If you are considering a GMC vehicle, here is a rundown of the most efficient 2018 GMC models for you to look at.
- 2018 GMC Terrain. This compact crossover is one of the brand’s most popular models. It was recently redesigned and is more efficient than ever. With its base engine, a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder, drivers an expect to get an EPA-estimated 26 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and 28 mpg combined.* There is even a diesel engine option that increases fuel economy to 28 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 32 mpg combined.*
- 2018 GMC Acadia. If you need more interior space, the Acadia has it. Its 2.5-liter base engine delivers an EPA-estimated 21 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined.*
- 2018 GMC Canyon. Did you know even a pickup can be fuel efficient? The mid-size GMC Canyon can, especially if you opt for its 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine. This will return an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined.*

The 2019 GMC Acadia already promises to hold its own in the competitive midsize SUV segment, but every model can use an edge, right? Enter the GMC Acadia Black Edition. This limited-run model boasts all the features drivers love about the standard model and much more, providing a jolt of bold, confident style. We’re looking forward to welcoming the Black Edition here at Ron Smith Buick GMC.
All Acadia Black Edition models will feature black trim and a darker grille insert. Black mirror caps, trim badging, and surround make this quite the standout model. Black roof rails and 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with black accents complete the Acadia’s top-to-bottom blackout.

Brand name recognition is a big deal. Word of mouth and having a recognizable logo are major marketing tactics in the business world. And it seems that, in time for the 2019 Buick lineup, Buick has achieved the ultimate goal of gaining customers who can recognize the brand’s vehicles from logo alone. Buick recently announced plans to drop the brand’s name from the 2019 Buick lineup, relying entirely on the tri-shield logo for brand recognition.
This marketing decision comes in the wake of a survey conducted by Buick at the beginning of 2017, the results of which showed that 73 percent of drivers could recognize Buick vehicles from the logo alone. It’s also another strategic move by the brand to switch up expectations and preconceptions of Buick. In the past, the Buick name was associated with an older target demographic, while the automaker is currently aiming to appeal to a broader (and younger) audience. Dropping the Buick name from the back of its vehicles will also leave room for the new Avenir sub-brand badging.
The new Buick lineup, soon to be available at Ron Smith Buick GMC, will continue to deliver the brand’s “attainable luxury” while also building and expanding the new Avenir sub-brand. By leaving off the Buick name, the brand is taking another step towards revamping its image.
Worried about buying a used car? Concerned that the process will suck up all your time and stress you out? It’s easy to get caught up in the difficulties of deciding on a type of car, getting the best value, and making sure the car is in good condition. To help you navigate the process of shopping for a vehicle, here are a few tips to keep in mind when buying a used car:
Set a Budget
Begin the process by settling on a good budget. If you’re open to buying cars older than five years, there may not be many banks willing to give you a loan to pay for an old used car, so make sure you have enough money to purchase the type of used car you want. While you should probably aim for vehicles with a bit of wiggle room underneath your budget cut-off point, you can also negotiate with the seller for a better price, as long as you’ve done your research.
Seek Out a Reputable Dealership
Shopping for a used car can also take you to different places. Customers are familiar with third-party sellers, such as former car owners placing classified ads. But everyone has heard their fair share of horror stories about former owners selling poorly-maintained vehicles to unsuspecting buyers.
You’re better off seeking out a reputable dealership like Ron Smith Buick GMC, because we can offer a more guaranteed, higher quality of vehicle than third party sellers.
When shopping for a used car you should always do your homework by checking the VIN, or Vehicle Identification Number, and having a history report run on the car to ensure it’s in good quality.
Finding a used car for an affordable price and in good condition could be right around the corner, especially when you visit Ron Smith Buick GMC.
The 2018 Terrain design is new for the latest model year, offering a fresh, bold look that’s bound to stand apart. The Terrain is a dependable small SUV that’s great for families and a wide range of drivers, and the 2018 model year will include smoother contours and a less boxy style. Not only will this improve aerodynamics, but it also gives the Terrain a refined look that will impress both family and friends.
According to The Oakland Press, the Terrain is shorter and lighter than the previous model year, and the Denali trim will have a satin-chrome grille, LED lighting, and signature alloy wheels. The front end is remarkably different, with new lines around the grille and front headlights that make the exterior changes stand out.
The interior also has some changes. Matt Myftiu at The Oakland Press notes that the GMC Terrain is “one of the most comfortable SUVs you will find on the market,” and that the Terrain is “surprisingly roomy for a small SUV.” In other words, the Terrain is compact without sacrificing comfort.
Other great features include a tuned 2.0-liter turbocharged engine to complement the bold exterior, while a nine-speed transmission provides a smooth ride. You can also opt for all-wheel drive if you want a little added control on slippery surfaces.

Hanukkah has come and gone for another year, and people around the world celebrated accordingly. Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, can be an illuminating reminder to celebrate the various lighting technologies in the automotive industry. Buick’s lighting system is extensive and comes with plenty of options that can make your life easier throughout the year.
Adaptive Forward Lighting
Safety technology is always advancing, and Buick has been equipping most of its vehicles accordingly. Adaptive Forward Lighting senses the direction the car is going, then moves the headlights in that direction. This system enables drivers to see around curves at night.
Buick vehicles are luxurious when it comes to materials and controls, but many people forget about the interior lighting. Most Buick models feature warm ambient lighting to set a relaxing mood. Footwell lighting helps passengers find exactly what they need, even if it’s on the floor in the dark.
High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps detect the conditions of traffic and turn on or off as necessary. The system allows drivers to flash their headlights prior to passing a vehicle to alert drivers ahead. Models equipped with HID headlamps help improve visibility at night or in dark areas, such as a garage.
We here at Ron Smith Buick GMC are happy to see Buick models offer lighting options to meet the needs of all drivers and driving conditions.
